Nightjar Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026.
1. Who is responsible
Nightjar is operated by Aleksandr Matsko. Contact for privacy questions: support@nightjarcam.com.
We are responsible for your account data. For video and any personal data in it, you (our customer) are the controller and we are your processor: we handle it only to provide the Service, on your instructions.
2. What we collect
- Account data: organization name, your name, email, password (stored only as a hash), the users you invite and their roles.
- Camera data: camera addresses and logins you enter, settings, and the video and events your cameras send.
- Billing data: balance, top-ups and daily charges. Payments are processed by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record; we receive the transaction status, not your card number.
- Technical data: IP address, browser, sign-in times and an audit log of actions in your account, kept for security.
- Consents: which version of these documents you accepted and when.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the Service and support (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep the Service and your account secure, and to prevent abuse (our legitimate interest).
- To keep billing and tax records (legal obligation).
- To send product news, only if you opted in; you can opt out in the dashboard or by the link in any such email.
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not use video to train models. The site uses only strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. There is no third-party analytics or advertising on the site.
4. Who we share it with
- Paddle.com โ payments, tax and receipts.
- Cloudflare โ DNS for our domain and forwarding of email sent to our support address.
- Hosting and email delivery providers that run the Service for us, under contracts that require them to protect the data.
- Authorities, only when required by a valid legal order.
Data and recordings are stored in the United States. Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it
Recordings are kept for the retention period you set for each camera and then deleted automatically. Account data is deleted within 30 days after you close your account, except billing records, which we keep as long as tax law requires. Security logs are kept for up to 12 months.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time โ most of it directly in the dashboard, or by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, the UK or California), you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We do not discriminate against you for using these rights. People who appear in a customer's video should contact that customer, who controls the recording; we will help the customer respond.
7. Security and children
Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and access to data inside our team is limited and logged. The Service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We will email you about material changes before they take effect. Earlier versions stay available on this page.
